As I have mentioned before, Hardwicke has been organising a series of eDisclosure seminars following the publication of the OUP book Electronic Disclosure Law and Practice written by Michael Wheater and Charles Raffin of Hardwicke.
The next seminar in the series is tomorrow, 24 April, with the title Processing and filtering electronic documents. It is given by Michael Wheater and Emma Hynes of Hardwicke.
Subjects to be covered include:
- types of search, keyword selection and validation of methodology;
- what is involved in data processing and common issues encountered;
- demystifying the jargon;
- the dangers of de-duplication and near de-duplication
- audio files, language issues and translation;
- problems with timezones;
- hard-copy documents and OCR.

On the subject of Hardwicke, Charles Raffin was featured last week in an interview with Legal Cheek about how chambers will be (or at least should be) training the next generation of barristers to understand and make use of technology in practice.
The title Chambers will need to ensure pupils are prepared for the digital age gives you the flavour of it.
