The March issue of Charles Christian’s American Legal Technology Insider is available here.
It leads with the headline Shake-up time for e-Discovery sector, with Iron Mountain’s acquisition of Mimosa Systems and the report that Marsh & McLennan Companies are putting the Kroll corporate investigations division on the market.
That Iron Mountain should acquire Mimosa looks like logical move after its acquisition of eDiscovery company Stratify in 2007. It brings Iron Mountain an integrated archive for email, SharePoint data and files, and an on-premises archiving option to complement its existing cloud-based archives.
As Charles Christian observes, however, the suggestion (which is all we have for now) that a corporate investigations, risk managment and litigation support business is a “poor strategic fit” for a large insurance group raises all sorts of questions.
Christian also notes that the Kroll Ontrack business showed a 19% increase in revenues in 2009 Q4.
