Equivio Zoom for Information Governance

I wrote recently about the new partnership between Equivio and Nuix, and mentioned along the way that both companies have strong offerings in Information Governance.

For Nuix, IG is one of six discrete activities. Equivio splits its website between eDiscovery and Information Governance, reflecting the substantial additional functionality added to Equivio Zoom to allow users to deal with the significant complexities of Information Governance on top of those required for eDiscovery.

eDiscovery generally involves binary options (relevant or not, privileged or not) plus a finite number of issues. It is also dealing with a closed document population – more documents may come to light, or be brought in by a widening of the issues or custodians, but there is usually no need to cater for future documents which are as yet uncreated.

IG may involve categorisation under hundreds of headings, and involves a pre-emptive approach to yet-to-be-created documents.

You can find out more about Equivio’s Information Governance initiative by reading a paper called Equivio Zoom for Information Governance – Enabling Categorization to Reduce Risk and Cost and to Find and Extract Value from Corporate Data Stores which I wrote for Equivio recently and which is available here.

The Resources section of Equivio’s website is one of the best there is, and has other papers etc which may help understand this increasingly important subject.
